معرفی
Sophien Kamoun is a Professor of Biology at The Sainsbury Laboratory, part of the University of East Anglia. His research focuses on plant immunity, pathogen interactions, and bioengineering solutions to enhance crop disease resistance. He leads projects such as PIKOBODIES, engineering disease resistance genes using nanobody fusions, and the APH Partner Grant advancing plant health research.
Recent work includes groundbreaking studies on resistosome formation in plant immunity, pathogen effector mechanisms, and synthetic biology approaches to design robust immune receptors. His research has been published in high-impact journals like Science Advances and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
- Active Project: PIKOBODIES (UK Research & Innovation, 2023–2028)
- Grant Leadership: BBSRC Institute Strategic Programme (2023–2025)
Kamoun collaborates globally, addressing challenges in wheat blast fungus evolution and equitable access to genomics technologies via initiatives like GetGenome.
Labs/Teams: Directs research at The Sainsbury Laboratory, collaborating with institutions worldwide to advance plant health and sustainable agriculture.
