Sophie Morosoli is a Research Fellow at the University of Amsterdam's Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences, affiliated with the AI, Media and Democracy Lab. Her work focuses on AI ethics, misinformation dynamics, and public attitudes toward emerging technologies. Previously, she earned a Master’s in Communication Science from the University of Zurich and completed her PhD in Political Science at the University of Antwerp.
Her research explores how individuals interact with AI in journalism, particularly regarding trust, risk perceptions, and authenticity. She also investigates the dissemination of online misinformation, analyzing factors like political attitudes and individual characteristics influencing engagement. Her recent studies address AI governance, including political parties' strategies around AI and the effectiveness of transparency laws like the EU AI Act.
Key themes in her publications include cross-national comparisons of disinformation resilience, motivations behind conspiracy theory engagement, and the sociological impacts of AI disclosures.
