Sophie Gilhooly is a part-time Lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University's College of Health, Wellbeing and Life Sciences, combining her role with clinical work as a Senior Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist in the NHS. She specializes in shoulder rehabilitation, trauma/orthopaedic care, and telehealth innovation. She graduated with a BSc from Teesside University in 2015 and is currently pursuing a Master's degree.
Teaching responsibilities include modules such as Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, Evidence and Enquiry in Practice, and Complex Case Management. Her research focuses on telehealth service impacts and physiotherapy management of distal clavicle fractures. She actively promotes research integration in clinical practice and has received recognition for her conference presentations.
She has clinical experience in elite sports (Premiership football) and chronic condition management, emphasizing patient empowerment and physical activity promotion.
