معرفی
Sophie Farrow is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Oxford's Department of Physiology, Anatomy, and Genetics (DPAG) and leads a research group within the Oxford Parkinson’s Disease Centre (OPDC). She earned her PhD from the University of Auckland (New Zealand) in 2022, focusing on non-coding genetic variants in Parkinson's disease (PD), followed by postdoctoral work funded by the Michael J Fox Foundation. Her research integrates multi-omic datasets and molecular techniques to identify drug targets for sporadic PD.
- Education: BSc (Hons), PhD (University of Auckland, 2022)
Research Interests: Sophie’s work bridges genetic risk variant analysis, chromatin profiling (Micro-C, ATAC-seq), and RNAseq to decode molecular mechanisms in PD. She leverages patient-derived biosamples from the OPDC Discovery cohort to refine gene prioritization and inform drug development.
Grants & Affiliations: Funded by Parkinson's UK (Senior Research Fellowship) and the Michael J Fox Foundation. Affiliated with the Wade-Martins Group and OPDC.
Scientific Contributions: Participated in establishing New Zealand’s Newborn Genomics platform for rare diseases and developed integrative pipelines for PD-related gene target discovery.
