Sophie Calder-Wang is an Assistant Professor at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, with secondary affiliations in Business Economics & Public Policy and Finance departments. Her research spans industrial organization, digitization, urban economics, and their intersections with real estate markets, venture capital, and public policy.
Her work includes empirical studies on flood risk pricing, algorithmic rental market dynamics, gender diversity impacts, and sharing economy effects on housing. She develops econometric methods to address unobserved heterogeneity and state dependence in market analyses.
Recent publications examine venture capital hiring through parental gender influences, price coordination in algorithmic multifamily rentals, and regulatory implications of home-sharing platforms.
