Sophia Yakhlef is a Senior Lecturer in Sociology with specialization in Criminology at the Department of Social Sciences, Kristianstad University. She holds a Merited Teacher title and is part of the Individual Group Society (FIGS) research environment within the Faculty of Health Science. Her research focuses on romance fraud, cybercrime, media representations of crime, school-based crime prevention, border police operations, gender studies, and organizational culture.
Key research projects include studies on romance fraud in Sweden, school as a protection factor for newly arrived students, and cross-boundary police collaboration. She teaches sociological/criminological theory, gender studies, qualitative methods, and ethnography. Yakhlef’s work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to quality education and reduced inequalities.
Her fingerprint includes expertise in police studies, Baltic Sea Region dynamics, Sweden-specific law enforcement, and ethnographic methodologies. Collaborations span international research networks, particularly in Nordic and Baltic regions.
