Sophia Xie is an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Chronic Disease & Ageing at Monash University. She also holds a Distinguished Professor position at Xinxiang Medical University (since 2015) and serves as a Statistical Editor for Cochrane Anaesthesia, Critical, and Emergency Care (since 2015). Her research focuses on Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Evidence-Based Medicine, with expertise in Big Data Analytics and Longitudinal designs. She has led collaborative projects, including the Respiratory Health Screening of Stonemasons in Victoria (2019–2022), and has contributed to over 93 publications. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals addressing health and well-being.
Her research interests include Population Genetics and GWAS, with applications in predicting health outcomes and analyzing disease risk. Recent studies have explored cancer incidence in occupational settings and molecular subtyping of brain tumors using MRI features. She has also investigated genetic variants impacting thrombotic events in aging populations.
Collaborations span global institutions, focusing on epidemiological and genetic analyses. Her contributions bridge clinical research and public health, advancing evidence-based practices in chronic disease management.
