Sophia Meyer is a PhD candidate at the University of Potsdam within the Institute of Biology and Biochemistry, specifically the Biodiversity Research/Systematic Botany group. Her work is part of the DFG-funded project SeBAS – Sensing Biodiversity Across Scales, focusing on plant diversity and ecosystem functioning in managed grasslands.
- Research Areas: Land use change impacts on plant diversity, biodiversity-ecosystem service relationships, intraspecific trait variation, urban ecosystems, and conservation biology.
- Education: MSc in Urban Ecosystem Sciences (Technische Universität Berlin, 2018–2022), BSc in Biology (Freie Universität Berlin, 2015–2018).
- Experience: Student assistant at Botanischer Garten Botanisches Museum Berlin (2020–2022), contributing to the WIPs-De II project.
Her PhD thesis investigates direct and indirect effects of land use on biodiversity–ecosystem function and service relationships across spatial scales. She works in collaboration with the Biodiversity Exploratories platform, analyzing plant functional traits and diversity patterns in Central European grasslands.
