Soosun You is a Senior Fellow in Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Arts & Sciences. She will assume an Assistant Professor position starting July 2025. Her research specializes in Comparative Politics and Political Behavior, with a regional focus on South Korea. Dr. You explores gender equality challenges, particularly how demographic shifts and policy interventions impact women's rights. Her current book project examines South Korea's transition from autocracy to democracy and its effects on pro-natalist policies and gender dynamics.
Education: Ph.D. in Political Science from UC Berkeley (2024).
Research interests include the interplay between demographic trends, marital market dynamics, and gender empowerment. Her work combines qualitative and quantitative methods to analyze policy impacts and societal norms. Recent studies address labor rights awareness campaigns for migrant workers and how economic anxiety influences gender attitudes in Nepal.
