Dr. Soon Mi Lim is an Instructional Associate Professor at Texas A&M University's Department of Chemistry, College of Arts and Sciences. She joined as full-time faculty in 2013, focusing on enhancing STEM education through active learning methodologies. Her research spans chemical education, biomedical applications of macromolecules, and cell mechanobiology.
Education Background: Ph.D. in Chemistry (Texas A&M University), Postdoc at Texas A&M Health Science Center, M.S. and B.S. in Chemistry from Inha University, South Korea.
Research Interests: She specializes in developing pedagogical tools for chemistry education, including lab techniques and Python-driven data analysis. Her work in biomedical chemistry involves polymer-based therapeutics and mechanotransduction in cells. She also leads outreach initiatives like the annual Chemistry Open House and programs to improve graduate student career readiness.
Awards: Recognized with prestigious awards including the College of Arts and Sciences Faculty Excellence Award (2024) and AFS Distinguished Teaching Award (2017). She secured grants for inclusive education and diversity initiatives.
