Soobin Cho is a J.L. Doob Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, part of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences. He completed his PhD in mathematics at Seoul National University in 2021 under the supervision of Professor Panki Kim, specializing in stochastic analysis and Dirichlet forms.
His research focuses on the analysis of stochastic processes, degenerate Dirichlet forms, and heat kernel estimates. Key areas include:
- Regularity properties and functional inequalities for Markov processes
- Boundary behavior and decay properties of jump kernels
- Robust estimates for nonlocal operators on metric spaces
- Laws of iterated logarithm for occupation times
His publications demonstrate consistent focus on theoretical probability, with recent work emphasizing heat kernel characterizations for degenerate/singular operators, laws of iterated logarithm, and nonlocal elliptic operators. Articles frequently integrate probabilistic methods with analytic techniques across doubling spaces and Lévy frameworks.
Dr. Cho maintains active collaboration networks as evidenced by co-authored works but does not currently list advised students or lab affiliations.
