Sonny Biswas is an Associate Professor of Finance at the ICMA Centre, Henley Business School, University of Reading, where he joined in 2025. Prior to this, he worked at the University of Bristol Business School from 2014 to 2025 after completing his PhD in Finance at Warwick Business School in 2014.

Sonny’s research focuses on banking and corporate finance, particularly bank competition and the role of regulation. He employs applied theoretical models to explain empirical phenomena, such as how banks signal quality through leverage restrictions and how regulatory interventions like minimum capital requirements can enforce socially optimal outcomes. His work includes a 2022 article in the Journal of Financial Economics analyzing signaling dynamics in banking.
