Sonja U.K. Rohmer

Sonja U.K. Rohmer is an Assistant Professor at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) and holds a joint position as Assistant Professor at HEC Montréal since July 2021. She is affiliated with the Operations, Planning, Accounting & Control (OPAC) group within the School of Industrial Engineering and Innovation Sciences. Her research focuses on applying Operations Research to address sustainability challenges in supply chains and urban logistics, particularly in food systems and perishable goods distribution.

Academic Background: She earned her PhD in Operations Research and Logistics from Wageningen University (2019) and holds degrees from the University of Strathclyde (BSc Management Science/Economics) and Polytech Tours (MRes Computer Aided Decision Support). During her PhD, she conducted research at CIRRELT (Canada), Dalian Maritime University (China), and Chulalongkorn University (Thailand).

Research Interests: Her work emphasizes sustainable urban logistics, last-mile delivery innovations, food waste reduction through supply chain optimization, and the integration of new technologies in agriculture. She explores metropolitan solutions for perishable goods logistics and the environmental-economic trade-offs in food distribution systems.

Projects: She leads/co-leads initiatives like the CropMix OPAC project (2023–2027) on food logistics and the Cross-KIC Sustainable Cities project (2020). These projects aim to develop scalable solutions for urban food systems and sustainable supply chain networks.

Collaborations: Active collaborations span institutions in Canada, China, Thailand, and Europe, focusing on vehicle routing optimization, cooperative logistics frameworks, and perishable inventory management.

Advising/Grants: Supervises 10 academic works and secures grants targeting sustainable urban logistics, with a focus on food systems and emission reduction technologies.
