Sonia Chiasson is Professor and Canada Research Chair in Human Oriented Computer Security at Carleton University's School of Computer Science. She directs the CHORUS lab and serves as Deputy Scientific Director of SERENE-RISC cybersecurity network.
Research integrates HCI principles with security systems, focusing on authentication mechanisms, privacy for vulnerable groups, and security education. Recent work examines e-proctoring ethics, mental health chatbot privacy, and SSO authentication interfaces.
As HCI Program Co-Director, she advances pedagogical innovation in human-centered computing. Educational contributions include developing comics and games for cybersecurity literacy, particularly for children's online safety.
Honored as Canada Research Chair, she leads initiatives bridging academic research with industry security practices through ISSNet collaborations.
