Song Yonghua

Yonghua Song is currently Rector and Chair Professor at the University of Macau, China. He holds extensive leadership roles, including former Executive Vice President of Zhejiang University and Director of the National Office of the Recruitment Program of Global Experts. His academic journey includes positions at prestigious institutions such as Tsinghua University, University of Liverpool, and Brunel University.

He holds a PhD from the China Electric Power Research Institute (1989) and a BEng from Sichuan University (1984). His research focuses on smart grids, power system optimization, renewable energy integration, and electric vehicle grid interactions. He has authored six books, over 550 papers (including 210 SCI-indexed), and supervised over 60 PhD students.

Key awards include Fellowships from IEEE, Royal Academy of Engineering, and the Yangtze River Scholar title. He led pioneering research on electric vehicle-to-grid optimization, earning provincial and national recognitions. His work has been cited over 15,500 times, with an h-index of 61.

He serves on editorial boards of journals like the Journal of Modern Power Systems and holds leadership roles in professional societies, including Vice President of the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering.
