معرفی
Dr. Somidh Saha is a Research Fellow at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis (ITAS), where he leads the junior research group Sylvanus focused on increasing socio-ecological resilience of urban and peri-urban forests. With a PhD in Forestry from the University of Freiburg (DAAD Scholarship), he combines ecophysiological research with participatory technology assessment.
- Key projects: GreenLung (BMBF-funded), ErWiN (forest fire resilience), URBORETUM (urban tree mortality solutions)
- Teaches modules on Urban Ecology and Ecology of Urban Trees across KIT's environmental science programs
- Active in international collaborations with Yale School of Environment and Albert-Ludwig University of Freiburg
His research centers on climate change impacts and ecosystem service quantification through comparative studies of natural and built environments. Recent publications analyze drought resilience trade-offs, post-fire regeneration strategies, and urban tree physiological responses using meta-analysis and spatial mapping techniques.
Scientific awards include the prestigious DAAD Scholarship during his doctoral studies. He has developed innovative science-theater collaborations like The Circus of the Trees to communicate forest-climate interactions.
