Sohail Khan

Sohail Khan is a Senior Lecturer in Primary Initial Teacher Education (ITE) at Newman University’s Faculty of Education. His roles include teaching Primary Science and Forest School modules on PGCE and undergraduate programmes. He emphasizes practical, engaging science curricula to nurture children’s curiosity. With a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Biology from the University of Birmingham, he completed a Graduate Teacher Programme (QTS) and has extensive experience in primary school teaching across the West Midlands. Since joining Newman in 2011, he has advanced research on Forest School approaches’ impact on trainee teachers and collaborates with Mälardalen University, Sweden, on outdoor learning initiatives.

His professional memberships include the Higher Education Academy, Association for Science Education, and Association for the Study of Primary Education. Current projects involve completing an MA in Education focused on Forest School methodologies and sustaining international partnerships to explore outdoor education benefits.
