Prof. Dr. Sofie HENNAU serves as a Tenure track lecturer at Hasselt University within the Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Social Sciences. Her office is located at Campus Hasselt, Faculty of Law Building, Office FR-4.11. She is actively involved in teaching and research activities for the academic years 2024-2025 and 2025-2026.
Her research focuses on critical areas of governance and political systems, with particular emphasis on administrative law, democratic innovations, and political participation. She leads the Research Group on Digitalization, Diversity and Democracy, examining how technological advancements intersect with democratic processes and social inclusion.
Dr. HENNAU serves as Vice-Chair of the Examination Committee for the Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences, demonstrating her commitment to academic governance. Her teaching portfolio includes courses on Political Science and Public Administration, Methodology of Social Sciences, and Community Service Learning internships, where she holds coordinating and co-holder responsibilities.
She is currently involved in eight significant research projects spanning from 2009 to 2025, with several ongoing initiatives focused on digital governance, electoral reforms, and social inclusion. Notable projects include the Steunpunt Bestuurlijke Vernieuwing (2021-2025) and City Deal e-Inclusie by design (2023-2024).
