Sofia Gomez Pichardo is a Lecturer at Texas Christian University's AddRan College of Liberal Arts, with a focus on History. She works as a Teaching Assistant and Research Assistant under Dr. Alex Hidalgo and Dr. Peter Szok.
Her research explores public spaces and traditional knowledge in historical narratives, particularly examining how ancient Americas cultures understood death through funerary offerings. She reflects on museums' roles in fostering belonging and equity, notably through the Moche Art: Between Life and Afterlife exhibition.
- Research Interests: History of collecting, archaeology, art, indigeneity, ethnohistory, postcolonialism, imperialism, funerary practices of the ancient Americas, museology, and mass culture.
- Grants: Boller-Worcester Grant for the American Society for Ethnohistory Annual Meeting (2025), and Boller-Worcester Research Grant for work on Moche Art at Fowler Museum (UCLA) and LACMA (2024).
- Honors: Sundance Square Curatorial Fellowship under curator María Elena Ortiz at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth (2025).
She presented Forging Andean Art at the American Society for Ethnohistory Annual Meeting (2024) and co-authored a critical article on pre-Columbian art theft in The Texas Observer (2024).
