Dr. Sobia Shaheen Shaikh is an Assistant Professor at the School of Social Work, Memorial University of Newfoundland. She holds a PhD in Sociology and Equity Studies in Education from the University of Toronto, an MSW in Social Welfare Policy from McMaster University, and BSW and BA degrees in Economics from McMaster University.
- Research Focus: Intersectional social justice, antiracist feminist organizational change, and policy analysis.
- Teaching: Critical social work, feminist theory, and social policy with over ten years of university-level instruction.
Notable Projects: Principal investigator for the Shifting Priorities national policy study exploring how women’s organizations navigate government policies. Led the Addressing Islamophobia in NL project, including workshops and a community film series.
