Smitha Warrier

Dr. Smitha Warrier serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Utah, where she has been faculty since 2011. Board-certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, she is an active member of the Acute Pain Team dedicated to optimizing perioperative patient care experiences.

Education:

• Residency in Anesthesiology, University of Utah (2010)
• Fellowship in Acute Pain and Regional Anesthesia, University of Utah (2011)

Her clinical and research focus centers on acute pain management and regional anesthesia techniques, with growing expertise in healthcare sustainability. She actively integrates environmental and social sustainability principles into healthcare operations through system-wide initiatives.

Dr. Warrier holds significant leadership positions including Chief Surgical Operations Officer for University of Utah Health and Medical Director of Environmental and Social Sustainability. Her institutional roles encompass directing the Acute Pain Fellowship and serving as Anesthesia Director for multiple clinical sites. Externally, she contributes as a Board Member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and previously served as President of the Utah Society of Anesthesiologists.

Within clinical operations, she remains actively engaged with the Acute Pain Team while driving sustainability innovations across the healthcare system.
