Slavomír Stašiov

Prof. Ing. Slavomír Stašiov, PhD is a full-time Professor and Head of the Department of Biology and General Ecology at the Faculty of Ecology and Environmental Sciences, Technical University of Zvolen (TUZVO). With a career spanning nearly two decades, he has served on key academic bodies including the Scientific Council (2006–present), Dean's Board, and various Study Programme Committees for Ecology and Biodiversity Conservation.

• Research Focus: His work bridges myriapodology (Diplopoda/Chilopoda), forest and agricultural ecology, and conservation biology, with a particular emphasis on habitat management and biodiversity assessment in arboretums, bogs, and human-altered landscapes.
• Publications: Recent studies include the first Red List of harvestmen in Slovakia, analyses of centipede distribution in Himalayan forests, and evaluations of agroecosystem impacts on millipede communities.
• Supervised Theses: He has mentored over 20 students in projects ranging from wind park effects on epigeic fauna to restitution of ground squirrels in Muránska Planina National Park.

Grants: Active in VEGA 1/0076/22 and VEGA 1/0255/23 projects, alongside ITMS 313011T721. His work addresses urgent ecological issues like anthropogenic impacts, agricultural landscape management, and urban biodiversity preservation.
