Siân White is the Associate Dean and Professor of English at James Madison University (JMU). She joined JMU in 2009 after earning a Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame, an M.A. from Loyola Marymount University, and a B.A. from UCLA. Her research focuses on British and Irish modernism, Irish Studies, and narrative theory, with a particular emphasis on intimacy, gender, and the politics of form in modernist and contemporary women’s fiction. She has co-edited The Edinburgh Companion to Irish Modernism (2021).
In her role as Associate Dean, she oversees undergraduate recruitment, student academic affairs, curriculum, and communications/marketing for the College of Arts and Letters. She has led study abroad programs in Spain, Ireland, and London, reflecting her commitment to global education. Beyond academia, she enjoys writing, swimming, singing, and spending time with family and friends.
Her academic contributions include interdisciplinary research and leadership in higher education administration. She holds a strong record in curriculum development and student support initiatives.
