Sivera Berben is a Lecturer in Acute Intensive Care at HAN University of Applied Sciences, appointed as of April 2024. She holds a PhD from Radboud University (2011) on 'Pain treatment in trauma patients' and has been affiliated with HAN since 2013 as an associate lecturer. Her work focuses on sustainable healthcare practices, CO2 reduction, and improving acute care through interdisciplinary collaboration.
Education and Background: Studied nursing at HAN, followed by Health Sciences in Maastricht. Her research emphasizes practice-based solutions, including projects like 'PAINLESS' (pain management tools) and 'Green choices in Acute Intensive Care' (sustainable healthcare solutions). She also explores generative AI in ambulance care and family participation in ICU care.
Awards and Affiliations: Fellow of the European Academy of Nursing Science, chair of V&VN Emergency Aid, and reviewer for international journals. She co-leads the Acute Intensive Care Lectorate, collaborating with regional and national partners to advance future-proof healthcare practices.
Key Initiatives: Launched the 'Sustainable Employability Guidelines' website to support healthcare professionals' well-being and retention. Her research addresses vital topics like patient pain management, CO2 reduction in care processes, and improving emergency response protocols through evidence-based tools.
