Sitian Liu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at Queen's University, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Science. She holds a PhD in Economics from Stanford University (2019) and a BS in Economics and Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2013). Her research focuses on Labor Economics, Family Economics, and the Economics of Crime, with cross-appointments to the John Deutsch Institute for the Study of Economic Policy.
Her work explores topics such as marital sorting, urban agglomeration economies, gender wage gaps, and the societal impacts of criminal justice policies. Recent studies analyze the effects of remote work on city productivity, the consequences of mass incarceration on educational disparities, and fertility incentives in Canada. She teaches courses like ECON 360 and ECON 951 (Topics in Labor Economics).
