Siti Fariya is a Research Associate at the Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University, with a focus on transport and logistics systems. Her work integrates maritime operations, simulation modelling, and quantum technologies to address sustainability and infrastructure challenges. She holds a PhD from the University of Strathclyde, where her research on ship recycling optimization earned the MVP Award in 2021.
Her career includes a joint academic-industry role at the University of Kent and Port of Dover, focusing on port traffic simulation and optimization. She is now advancing quantum logistics algorithms via the Quantum Technology Access Programme (QTAP) and contributes to the TransiT project, developing agent-based models for low-carbon port strategies.
Research interests span maritime sustainability, digital twins, and Southeast Asia-focused infrastructure solutions. Collaborations include Digital Catapult, ORCA Computing, and the International Maritime Organization. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly environmental and industrial innovation targets.
Awards include recognition from the Indonesian Ambassador to the UK and the MVP Award for advancing ship recycling reforms. Current projects emphasize decarbonization and multimodal transport optimization through digital twin technologies.
