Sipho Sibanda is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Social Work and Social Policy at the School of Allied Health, The University of Western Australia, with over a decade of teaching and research supervision experience. Previously, he held leadership roles in South African child protection services as a social worker, supervisor, and manager. He actively contributes to child welfare policy development and accepts PhD students for research supervision.

His 2025 publications analyze structural failures in South Africa's child protection systems, revealing critical disconnects between policy design and service delivery. These studies employ ecological systems theory and qualitative methodologies across foster care financing, school violence prevention, and HIV support systems, highlighting the need for culturally responsive, intersectoral approaches.
