معرفی
Siontorou Christina is a Professor at the Department of Industrial Management & Technology, University of Piraeus. She holds a PhD in Chemistry from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (2000) and a BSc in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Sunderland (1993). She has been affiliated with the University of Piraeus since 2003, progressing from teaching under PD407/80 to becoming a full faculty member. She also serves as a member of the Hellenic Open University's collaborative faculty, teaching Quality Management and Environmental Management courses.
Her research focuses on nanosensors, environmental monitoring systems, biosensor networks, and lipid membrane-based technologies. Key areas include toxin detection, environmental pollutant analysis, and biotechnology applications. She has published extensively (68 journal articles, 45 conference papers, 12 book chapters) across CRC Press, Springer, and Wiley.
Her work bridges chemical engineering, environmental science, and biotechnology, emphasizing practical applications such as oil spill cleanup, groundwater quality modeling, and smart biosensor design. She collaborates with industry on sensor commercialization and participates in EU-funded research initiatives on sustainable development and pollution management.
Her academic contributions include pioneering lipid film-based biosensors for rapid environmental and food safety testing, developing fault tree analysis methodologies for sensor reliability, and advancing strategic technology evaluation frameworks for innovation in biotechnology.
