معرفی
Sinead Lyle is an Associate Professor in the School of Engineering, Mathematics and Physics at the University of East Anglia. She has been a faculty member since 2007, contributing to both research and academic leadership. Her roles include MTH Director of Employability, Year in Industry Co-ordinator, Chair of the Maths Employer Advisory Panel, and member of the MTH Executive Team.
Research Interests: Her work centers on the representation theory of algebraic structures, particularly symmetric groups and related algebras. This includes Hecke algebras of type A, Ariki-Koike algebras, cyclotomic q-Schur algebras, and cyclotomic quiver Hecke algebras. She investigates structural properties such as decomposition numbers, block theory, and module bases.
Recent Research Trends: Her most recent publications (2023–2024) focus on core blocks, decomposition numbers, and Schurian-finiteness in Hecke and Ariki-Koike algebras, reflecting a sustained and evolving research program in modular and graded representation theory. These works appear in leading algebra journals such as Communications in Algebra and the Journal of the London Mathematical Society.
Scientific Awards and Grants:
- London Mathematical Society Emmy Noether Fellowship (2022)
- LMS Research in Pairs Grant (2020)
- Collaborative grant with Professor P. Martin at Leeds (2019)
- EPSRC Grant on Representations of cyclotomic Hecke algebras (2010–2012)
Advising and Grants: She is accepting PhD students and encourages inquiries on projects beyond advertised topics. Her research has been funded by major UK bodies including EPSRC and LMS, supporting collaborative work with leading mathematicians such as Prof. A. Mathas and Prof. P. Martin. She actively supervises research in representation theory.
Labs and Research Groups: She is a member of the Algebra, Number Theory, Logic, and Representations (ANTLR) research group at UEA, which fosters collaborative research in pure mathematics.
