Dr. Sindhunata Hargyono is a postdoctoral researcher at Leuphana University of Lüneburg, affiliated with the Institute of Sociology and Cultural Organisation (ISCO) and the Professorship for Political Sociology. He holds a PhD in Cultural Anthropology from Northwestern University (2023). His research focuses on the anthropology of the state, citizenship, and infrastructure, with current projects investigating the digitalization of Indonesia's national ID system and its implications for citizenship landscapes. He is a core member of the DigID: Doing Digital Identities research project (2023–2028).
His research explores the intersections of aesthetics, politics, and infrastructure, particularly in border regions. Notable outputs include a 2024 journal article on infrastructural anxieties and a 2021 chapter analyzing suspended development in Indonesian border villages. He actively participates in academic events such as the Roadsides publication workshop (April 2024) and organized the 2nd International DigID Workshop (January 2024).
