معرفی
Professor Simonetta Longhi is a researcher at the University of Southampton affiliated with the Centre for Population Change (CPC). Her work focuses on pension systems, social policy, and gender disparities in retirement outcomes. Her recent research examines how changes to State Pension Age affect different demographic groups of women and their partners.
Her primary research interests include Pensions, Social Policy, Gender Studies, Labor Economics, and Wellbeing. Her work investigates how personal and family circumstances interact with policy changes to produce heterogeneous outcomes across socioeconomic groups.
Professor Longhi's recent research demonstrates that pension reforms have positive impacts on employment but negative consequences for personal, financial, and mental wellbeing, with effects being more pronounced for women with low education and those without partners. Her work cautions against considering pension age changes in isolation from personal and family contexts.
Her scholarly contributions span pension literacy, retirement planning behavior, gender disparities in retirement preparedness, mental health consequences of pension uncertainty, partnership dynamics in retirement planning, and the impact of austerity policies on retirement security.
