Dr. Simone Smarr is a Senior Research Scientist at Howard University, affiliated with the Institute for Human-Centered AI. She leads the Computing CHANGE (Cultivating Human-centered Approaches for New Growth in Education) Lab, focusing on creating technology and learning experiences that center people, their goals, and their needs.
Dr. Smarr's research explores the intersection of computing, learning, and design, with a focus on human-centered approaches. Her work spans several key areas:
- Human-Centered Computing & UX: Designing technology with and for people, ensuring their needs and experiences are central

Dr. Smarr received her PhD in Human-Centered Computing from the University of Florida and her Bachelor of Science from Spelman College.
