Simone Selva

Simone Selva is Associate Professor of Economic History at the University of Naples L'Orientale and Fellow of the Royal Historical Society (FRHistS) in London. His distinguished academic career includes numerous prestigious research appointments at Oxford University, University of Bologna, Columbia University, European University Institute, Harvard University, and other leading institutions worldwide.

Dr. Selva specializes in twentieth-century economic history with particular expertise in global financial systems, US foreign economic relations, and international monetary history. His research examines the economic implications of NATO military assistance to Western Europe, the intersection of energy and finance in US foreign policy, international economic interdependence, and the relationship between financial and real estate markets. His current work focuses on the global financial role of private US banks and the history of international money and capital markets.

His extensive publication record reveals a consistent scholarly focus on twentieth-century financial history, particularly examining the Eurocurrency markets, US banking institutions, and transatlantic economic integration. His work frequently analyzes historical economic crises and their implications for contemporary financial systems, with special attention to energy markets and global finance.
