Simone Martini

Simone Martini is a Full Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Bologna, where he has been employed since 2002. He previously served as Director of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (2015-2018) and as a member of the Board of Governors of the University of Bologna (2021-2024). His academic journey includes positions as Research Associate and Associate Professor at the University of Pisa, and as Professor of Computer Science at the University of Udine.

Professor Martini's research spans several decades with primary focus on the logical foundations of programming languages. His work has expanded to include history and philosophy of computer science, epistemology, and computer science education. He has published extensively on lambda-calculus, type theory, linear logic, implicit computational complexity, and history of computing. His research interests reflect both deep theoretical foundations and broader philosophical perspectives on computing.

He actively contributes to academic governance through memberships in CINI, EQANIE, EACSL, and AILA. His teaching portfolio includes courses on History of Informatics, Programming Languages, Algorithms, and Computer Science foundations for various degree programs.
