Simone Lundquist is a Lecturer in Psychology at San José State University, where she teaches and conducts research on trauma recovery, cross-cultural counseling, and community mental health interventions. She earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology and developed the Personal Agency Questionnaire (PAQ), an outcome assessment tool grounded in Narrative Theory.
Her clinical work focuses on culturally responsive trauma treatment for torture survivors, refugees, and marginalized communities. As founder of the nonprofit Open Doors to Future Possibilities, she established a low-cost community counseling center ($10/hour) and veteran support programs that have served thousands. Her current research examines how dominant cultural discourses impact personal agency and mental health outcomes.
Publications investigate shifting coping strategies among Asian American women, mindfulness interventions, and educational program effectiveness. She directs the Academy of Contemporary Narrative Therapy, providing training in postmodern therapeutic approaches not typically covered in traditional academic settings.
