Dr. Simone Gatzke is a Senior Researcher at the Institute of Bio- and Geosciences (IBG), specifically within the Plant Sciences (IBG-2) division at Forschungszentrum Jülich, where she focuses on science coordination and strategy in plant research and bioeconomy.
Her research centers on plant phenotyping and abiotic/biotic stress responses, integrating molecular, physiological, and ecological approaches to develop sustainable agricultural solutions. This work drives resource efficiency improvements and climate change adaptation strategies while advancing bioeconomy through alternative biomass technologies.
As coordinator of the German Plant Phenotyping Network (DPPN), she provides external researchers access to advanced phenotyping facilities and manages multiple national/international industrial collaborations focused on plant-environment dynamics and sustainable production systems.
