Dr. Simon Trent is Lecturer in Neuroscience at Keele University's School of Life Sciences, where he serves as Director of Internationalisation, Year Tutor for Level 4 Neuroscience, and Neuroscience Admissions Tutor. He teaches undergraduate modules in Learning & Memory, Cellular & Molecular Neuroscience, and Behavioural Neuroscience.
His research utilizes preclinical genetic models to investigate psychiatric illnesses including ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, and schizophrenia. Current projects examine synaptic mechanisms involving Arc and Cyfip1 genes, hippocampal-dependent learning and memory, and psychiatric genomics using C. elegans and rodent models. He maintains collaborations with UK institutions and international partners including Universiti Sains Malaysia.
