Dr Simon Topping is an Associate Professor in United States History at the School of Society and Culture, University of Plymouth. He serves as Exchange Co-ordinator and teaches modules spanning American history from colonial times to the modern era. His research focuses on African American history, civil rights movements, and 20th-century U.S. political and cultural dynamics.

- America from Settlement to Empire (HIS4002)
- America Since 1900
- American Popular Culture since 1945
- Civil Rights Movement modules (1890–1970)
Research Interests: Explores themes such as slavery, civil rights, African American military history (WWII), and the intersection of culture and politics. His work contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those addressing equality and social justice.
