Professor Emeritus Simon Rice is the Kim Santow Chair of Law and Social Justice at the University of Sydney Law School. He holds a BA, LLB, and MEd from the University of New South Wales and was awarded the Order of Australia Medal for his contributions to legal education and social justice.
His research focuses on human rights frameworks, anti-discrimination legislation, and access to justice mechanisms. Primary interests include:
- Constitutional implications of religious freedom bills
- Legal ethics in discrimination cases
- Pedagogical innovations in clinical legal education
- Intersectionality in social justice advocacy
Recent publications analyze trends in parliamentary human rights dialogues, judicial interpretations of racial vilification laws, and LGBTQ+ protections in faith-based institutions. His work consistently examines tensions between civil liberties and legislative frameworks.
