Simon Michael Papalexiou is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Saskatchewan’s Department of Civil Geological and Environmental Engineering and an Associate Professor in Civil Engineering at the University of Calgary. His research focuses on hydroclimatic variability, extremes, and stochastic modeling, with applications in climate change diagnostics and risk assessment. He leads the development of CoSMoS-R, a widely adopted stochastic modeling software.
- Roles: Adjunct Prof (U of Saskatchewan), Associate Prof (U of Calgary)
- Editorial Roles: Associate Editor for Water Resources Research and Journal of Hydrology
Research interests include advancing stochastic models for hydroclimatic processes, uncertainty quantification, and bias-correction methods. His work has been featured in over 100 media outlets and recognized through prestigious awards like Science Magazine’s Editor’s Choice and multiple highlights in AGU’s Eos.
He has authored over 86 journal articles, delivered 100+ conference presentations, and organized workshops on time series modeling. His contributions to hydroclimatic extremes research are highlighted in a special issue of Advances in Water Resources.
