Simon Lemaire

Simon Lemaire is a tenured researcher (Chargé de Recherche de Classe Normale) in Applied Mathematics at Inria (Lille, France) since January 2018, affiliated with the RAPSODI project team. He is also a member of the AN-EDP team at the Paul Painlevé Laboratory (Université de Lille/CNRS). His research spans numerical analysis and scientific computing, focusing on high-order polytopal methods for PDEs, computational homogenization, and applications in continuum mechanics and electromagnetics.

He coordinates the ParaSkel++ project, a parallel C++ toolbox for PDE approximation, and leads the ANR PRCE HIPOTHEC project (2024-2028) on high-order polyhedral methods for eddy current testing simulations with EDF R&D. In 2024, he co-organized the international workshop 'New Trends in the Numerical Analysis of PDEs' in Lille.

His prior postdoctoral work includes contributions to computational mathematics at EPFL (2016-2017) and collaborations at ENPC (2014-2015) under the Inria MATHERIALS project. He earned his PhD in December 2013 from Université Paris-Est, co-supervised by Robert Eymard and Daniele A. Di Pietro, focusing on high-order schemes for convection-diffusion models.

Current and former collaborators include PhD student Julien Moatti (now assistant professor at Bordeaux INP) and postdoctoral researchers Silvano Pitassi (MSCE fellow, now at Université de Montpellier) and Florent Chave (now at MERITIS). His work emphasizes scientific programming and the development of open-source tools like ParaSkel++.
