Simon Jiang is an Associate Professor at The Australian National University (ANU) within the John Curtin School of Medical Research (JCSMR), Division of Immunology and Infectious Diseases. He holds a BMed from the University of Newcastle, an MMed(Hons) from the University of Sydney, and a PhD from ANU. His research focuses on genetic and molecular mechanisms of systemic autoimmunity and kidney disease, particularly in Indigenous Australians through personalized medicine approaches. He leads the Jiang Group - Personalised Medicine and Autoimmunity, collaborating with the National Centre for Indigenous Genomics.
Key research areas include identifying pathogenic gene variants, immune consequences, and translational medicine programs at The Canberra Hospital and ANU. Recently, his work has advanced RNA sequencing techniques and explored therapeutic targets like TNIP1 in autoimmune disorders.
Publications span 2011–2024, emphasizing nephrology, immunology, and genomics. Notable contributions include studies on IgG4-related disorders, nanopore sequencing applications, and survival prediction models for kidney disease. His work integrates clinical and genomic data to address health disparities in Indigenous populations.
