Simon Dalby is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at Carleton University, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. He holds degrees from Trinity College Dublin (B.A.), the University of Victoria (M.A.), and Simon Fraser University (Ph.D.). His research focuses on critical geopolitics, environmental security, globalization, and empire. He has authored notable works such as Creating the Second Cold War and Environmental Security, and co-edited the Geopolitics Reader and Security and Environmental Change. He is a co-editor of the journal Geopolitics.
Dr. Dalby teaches courses like GEOG 2600 (Geography Behind the Headlines) and advanced seminars on globalization and territoriality. His work bridges geopolitical analysis with environmental and security studies, reflecting interdisciplinary approaches to contemporary global challenges. He maintains active memberships in the Association of American Geographers, Canadian Association of Geographers, and International Studies Association.
