Dr. Simon Christian Stähler is a Lecturer at ETH Zurich's Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences with expertise in seismic exploration, near-surface geophysics, and multi-component seismic data processing. His research focuses on seismic spatial-gradient measurements, rotational-motion studies, and interdisciplinary investigations of the shallow subsurface. He is an active member of NASA's InSight mission to Mars and the LISA consortium. Dr. Stähler contributes to geophysical education through courses on Space System Engineering and Case Studies Seminars.
His laboratory specializes in field-scale seismic experiments and instrumentation development for planetary exploration. Current projects include developing novel seismic sensors for extraterrestrial environments and analyzing Martian seismic data from the InSight mission.
