Dr. Simon Chang is a Senior Lecturer in Economics at the UWA Business School, specializing in health, labor, demographic, and education economics. He holds external affiliations with the IZA Institute of Labor Economics, the Global Labor Organization (GLO), and the Tax and Transfer Policy Institute (TTPI) at the Australian National University. His research addresses global challenges such as environmental impacts on health, demographic shifts, and education policies. Notable contributions include studies on DDT exposure effects, air pollution’s influence on helping behavior, and male-biased sex ratios’ mortality impacts.
Education: PhD in Economics (Michigan State University, 2009), MSc and BSc in Economics (National Chengchi University, Taiwan).
Research interests include environmental health, demographic trends, education policy, and labor markets. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health, education, and sustainable cities.
