Simen McAdam Lium is a Research Fellow and PhD candidate at the Department of Private Law, University of Oslo. His doctoral research focuses on termination agreements in employment relationships, exploring the interplay between labor law protection rules and general contract law. He is affiliated with the Building Labour Law (Arfa) research program, aimed at strengthening labor law expertise. Previously, he has served as a partner and head of employment law at Wikborg Rein Law Firm since 2017 and 2019, respectively, while contributing to academic supervision and legislative consultations.
His research examines the legal limits of termination agreements, addressing validity, content, and implementation under Norwegian law. Key projects include analyzing mandatory protection rules' impact on contractual freedom and general contract law principles. His work bridges labor law and contract law, offering insights applicable to broader legal frameworks.
Publications include co-authored works on pensions and labor restructuring, demonstrating expertise in employment law dynamics. Funded by Arfa, his research contributes to both specialized labor law discourse and general contract law theory.
