Sima Jannati

Sima Jannati is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Finance and Real Estate at the College of Business, University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), where she teaches Investments, Financial Data Analytics, and special topics in finance. She previously held the same position at the University of Missouri-Columbia from 2018 to 2023. Her academic training includes a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Miami (2018), an MSc in Financial Engineering, and a BSc in Industrial Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology.

Her research is centered on behavioral finance and empirical asset pricing, exploring how cognitive biases, emotional states, rest, and social dynamics influence financial decision-making. She investigates topics such as analyst forecasting accuracy, in-group bias, knowledge spillovers from female leaders, and the impact of depression and jetlag on financial judgments. Her work bridges psychology and finance, offering insights into non-rational behaviors in markets.

Recent publications appear in top journals including Management Science, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Empirical Finance, and Finance Research Letters. Her research has been recognized with multiple awards, including Best Paper Awards from the American Accounting Association and the Southwestern Finance Association, and has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg Opinion, and National Public Radio.

She is also committed to mentoring and diversity, having chaired the Academic Female Finance Committee and organized the Showcasing Women in Finance Conference.
