Silvio Peroni

Dr. Silvio Peroni is an Associate Professor at the Department of Classical Philology and Italian Studies, University of Bologna, where he teaches Basic Informatics, Computational Thinking and Programming, and Data Science and Open Science. His work bridges Computer Science and Humanities, focusing on semantic publishing and digital knowledge management.

Research Interests: Peroni specializes in Semantic Web technologies, document markup, and ontology modeling. His research explores semantic interoperability for Open Science, scholarly citation analysis, bibliometrics, and visualization interfaces for semantic data. He develops tools like the SPAR Ontologies and contributes to initiatives such as OpenCitations, I4OC, and I4OA.

Leadership and Affiliations: Peroni directs the Research Centre for Open Scholarly Metadata and co-founded the Digital Humanities Advanced Research Centre (DH.arc). He serves on the Advisory Boards of DBLP and Qeios, and is an Ambassador for Figshare, PeerJ, and Publish Your Reviews. His memberships include ACM, ISSI, and the Association for Computing Machinery.
