Silvio Borrero is the Inaugural William Seale Professor of Business at St. Mary’s College of Maryland (SMCM). He holds a prominent role in the Economics & Business Administration and Management Department, focusing on strategy, organizational behavior, and business education. Prior to SMCM, he served as a faculty member and academic administrator in leading Colombian business schools, leveraging prior industry experience in management, entrepreneurship, and roles across manufacturing, engineering, consulting, retail, and service sectors.
Education includes a Ph.D. and M.S. in Management from Tulane University’s A.B. Freeman School of Business, an MBA from Universidad Icesi, and a BSc in Industrial Engineering from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. His academic journey combines advanced management studies with engineering expertise.
Research interests emphasize organizational behavior, business strategy, and pedagogical approaches in business education. His work bridges theoretical frameworks with practical industry insights, informed by his diverse professional background. Teaching focuses include business strategy, leadership, and ethics, reflecting a commitment to holistic business education.
