Silvia Tejada Gavela

Silvia Tejada Gavela is a Full Professor in the Department of Biology at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), where she also serves as Deputy Director in Physiology. Her research spans physiology, sleep physiology, biological rhythms, linear and nonlinear time series analysis, oxidative stress biomarkers, minimally invasive surgical techniques, growth plate studies, and aquatic ecotoxicology.

• Education: Double degree in Biology and Biochemistry, PhD in Basic Medical Sciences from UIB.

Her scientific contributions include 107 high-impact publications (65 in Q1 journals) and 14 book chapters, with a total impact index of 448.845. She has led three competitive public-funded research projects and one teaching innovation project.

Tejada has participated in over 80 oral/poster presentations at international conferences (SEBBM, SFRR, ERAS, EPOS, EFORT, SECF) and has conducted research stays at Radboud University Nijmegen (Netherlands) and the University of La Laguna (Tenerife, Spain). Her work emphasizes interdisciplinary applications, including biomarker utility for pollution assessment in marine organisms and pediatric surgical techniques.
